FAQ
What exactly is microbial protein?
It's a complete protein grown by natural fermentation, the same kind of process behind bread, beer and yoghurt. Instead of extracting protein from animals or crops, we cultivate healthy microbes that naturally produce high-quality protein. The result is 80% protein with all nine essential amino acids. This is also called single cell protein, which is where part of our name comes from.
Why won't it bloat me like other protein powders?
Around 30% of people experience bloating or discomfort with traditional protein powders. Our protein is naturally rich in prebiotic fibre, food for your beneficial gut bacteria, so it's designed to support digestion rather than disrupt it. It's built to be taken every day without the heavy feeling.
Is it a complete protein?
Yes. It contains all nine essential amino acids and the full BCAA profile, at a protein content of 80%, comparable to whey concentrate. Most plant proteins are incomplete; this one isn't.
Is it vegan?
Our Microbial Protein Concentrate is vegan, vegetarian, halal and kosher. Our Microbial Protein Collagen+ contains collagen of animal origin, so it is suitable for vegetarians but not vegans.
What's the difference between Concentrate and Collagen+?
Concentrate is our pure 80% protein with prebiotic fibre, for muscle and gut support. Collagen+ adds patented hydrolysed collagen peptides (Type I & III) with vitamin C and manganese for skin, hair, nails and connective tissue, so you get muscle, gut and tissue support in one scoop.
Does it contain allergens?
Both products are free from lactose, dairy, gluten, soy and legumes.
How do I use it?
Mix one scoop with water, plant milk or a smoothie, once a day. Use it after training or any time you want to top up your protein. One scoop a day, that's the whole idea.
How is it more sustainable?
It's grown by fermentation using healthy microbes, with no livestock and no arable land. That makes it one of the most resource-efficient ways to produce a complete protein: the quality of whey, with the footprint of a plant.
Is it backed by science?
Yes. 1SCP/D is the result of five years of doctoral research, supported by preclinical studies and more than 1,000 published studies on microbial protein and prebiotic fibre.
