Founded by a scientist

1SCP/D was founded in 2026 by PhD dr. ir. Norah Benmeridja, Doctor in Bio-engineering & Biotechnology at Ghent University. Norah graduated in 2025 after five years of research and laboratory work specialising in microbial protein, pioneering work in a field that's only now reaching the market.

In 2022, Norah won the PhD Innovation Café and Dare To Venture awards at UGent, and was awarded a €50,000 grant by the Belgian government in recognition of her ground-breaking, innovative research. 1SCP/D is where that research becomes something you can actually use, one scoop a day.

Why microbial protein

Whey performs, but it comes from animals and it bloats a lot of people. Plant proteins are sustainable, but most are incomplete and can be just as hard on digestion. Norah's research pointed to a third path: grow a complete protein by fermentation, using healthy microbes, and keep the natural prebiotic fibre that supports the gut. No arable land, no livestock, just nature's oldest processes, guided by modern science.
